Welcome friend, I'm SARAH, the one behind the lens.
I have lived in Arizona my whole life and grew up in the valley with grandparents who brought me out to their Sedona home often. I remember my clothes always being stained with the soft red dirt as I searched for stray golf balls among the evergreen conifers. They traveled as often as they could, almost always strapping me into the back seat of their old Grand Cherokee to come along.
From the Grand Canyon to the Painted Desert, Kartchner Caverns and crystal clear water creeks, I saw most of Arizona before high school!
Creating was always something I did, without really knowing the broad term of what I was doing. Originally, I thought I would be a fiction writer for an incredibly long time and though I'm not (at least not yet) my first passion will always be writing down the creative stories I daydream about.
Then came photography. I picked up my first camera in 2014 after the birth of my daughter. Like most moms I wanted to capture everything. Little did I know that this would be the next step...or addiction depending on who you ask...to where I am today.
For about 10 years I did mostly portrait photography but I always dreamed of doing more. I wanted to do weddings and elopements but I couldn't, in good conscience, book weddings when I had a lot of time restraints. I worked full time and commitment would have been an issue. The battle between passion and income with benefits was always clashing, passion always having to take the back seat when everything became too overwhelming.
The difference now is that I don't work a typical 9-5 and this allows me the ability to commit to my couples, my brand, and my business. Creating an EXPERIENCE for my couples instead of just showing up to take some photos with a pretty backdrop. This should be fun, more like going out on a romantic date where you spill your hearts out to one another under the setting sun — you just happen to hire me to be your third-wheeling photographer!
Camera shy? Me too believe it or not. Despite being a retired theater kid too! I have always been an introvert. The anxiety of being judged for being a nerd, dork, weirdo, etc was something I struggled with my whole life. Still do sometimes. But when you ask the ones closest to me they would probably tell you the opposite. I love physical comedy. I do a lot of weird facial expressions and voices to create comic relief, I'm also chronically online and tend to echo favorite phrases. I’m a 90's kid, we have been doing that since "littering and, littering and, littering and.." (10% off your session if you know the movie I am referencing)
And if I’m not talking about some rabbit hole or conspiracy theory just know, they got to me.
